Ulrich Born

Ulrich Born (born May 15, 1950 in Barntrup ) is a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1970, Born began studying law and political science in Marburg and Munich . In 1975 he passed the first state examination in law, worked from 1975 to 1978 as a research assistant at the law and economics faculty of the Philipps University of Marburg and since 1979 he has also studied administrative sciences at the University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer . After the second state examination in 1980, he worked as an academic advisor at the law and economics faculty of the University of Bayreuth . In 1983 he was awarded the title The Justification of Defense against Simulated Attacks as a Dr. jur. doctorate and was admitted to the bar in the same year.

Born later became a member of the regional synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mecklenburg. He is currently living in Pingelshagen (Northwest Mecklenburg district).

Political party

Born has been a member of the CDU since 1967. After the political turnaround in the GDR , he switched to state politics in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and was elected chairman of the Northwest Mecklenburg District Association. He is also the state chairman of the Evangelical Working Group (EAK) of the CDU Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

MP

Born was a member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament from 1994 to 2006 and deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there. On December 1, 2009, he returned to the state parliament as a replacement for Matthias Lietz, who was elected to the Bundestag . In the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2006 , he had narrowly failed in the state electoral district of Northwest Mecklenburg II . In 2011 he was not re-elected to parliament. He was a district council member of the Nordwestmecklenburg district and was president of the district council until the local elections in 2009.

Public offices

Born was appointed on October 27, 1990 as Minister for Justice, Federal and European Affairs in the government of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania led by Prime Minister Alfred Gomolka . On March 14, 1992 he was dismissed from this office by the Prime Minister before Gomolka resigned himself.
