Peter Bäumer

Peter Bäumer (born January 14, 1963 in Rheine ) is a German administrative lawyer and political official . From 2012 to 2019 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Life

education

After graduating from high school (1982) and doing basic military service (1982–1983), Bäumer began studying law in 1984 at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , which he completed in 1990 with the first state examination. This was followed by his legal clerkship at the Regional Court of Münster (1990–1993) and the second state examination .

Professional background

After the legal scholar had worked for the tax offices in Wismar and Parchim from 1993 to 1994 , he moved to the Ministry of Finance of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 1995 , where he a. a. Consultant for parliamentary and cabinet affairs , head of the Sparkassen, Landesbank and open property issues as well as head of the income tax, wage tax, tax incentive measures, DM balance sheet law . In 2000, he was temporarily transferred to the post of deputy head of the tax department . This was followed in 2002 as head of the ministerial office of the Ministry of Finance of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and in 2003 as deputy head of the tax department there .

After Peter Bäumer had been acting head of the General Department in the Ministry of Finance between 2008 and 2012 , he was appointed State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the Sellering II cabinet on November 1, 2012 by Minister Heike Polzin . He succeeded Jost Mediger . Bäumer also held the post of State Secretary in the subsequent state government ( Sellering III cabinet ) under Minister Mathias Brodkorb and is also a member of the Schwesig cabinet . In March 2019, Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig put Bäumer into temporary retirement after he had "not been able to exercise his office due to illness for almost a year" and Schwesig did not believe that "Bäumer could permanently fulfill the duties of State Secretary with all its burdens in the future".

Infidelity process

In 2013, the State Secretary was accused of embezzlement in a particularly serious case by the public prosecutor's office . He is said to have allowed unlawful granting of funds by means of false "core area certificates" of the municipalities for building owners. Both the public prosecutor and the accused refused to discontinue the proceedings. In March 2015, Peter Trees was acquitted of allegations of infidelity.

Private

Peter Bäumer has been married since 1990 and has two children.
