The Rostock Regional Court is a court of the ordinary jurisdiction of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and one of four regional courts in the district of the Rostock Higher Regional Court .

The court has its seat in the Hanseatic city of Rostock .

The judicial district includes the districts of the district courts of Güstrow and Rostock , which corresponds to the region of Central Mecklenburg and the areas of the independent city of Rostock and the district of Rostock .

In commercial criminal matters , the Rostock Regional Court was also given responsibility for the district of the Stralsund Regional Court . In addition, the Rostock Regional Court is exclusively responsible for the entire district of the Rostock Higher Regional Court in certain matters of commercial legal protection.

The regional court of Rostock is located in the courthouse August-Bebel-Strasse 15-20 , in which also the social court Rostock , the Labor Court Rostock , the Landesarbeitsgericht Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as well as some Senate of the Higher Regional Court of Rostock are housed. Until 1989, the Rostock district administration of the GDR Ministry for State Security was housed in the listed buildings . A plaque at the main entrance commemorates the victims of the Stasi and the takeover of the building complex by the citizens' committee on December 4, 1989.

Due to renovation work, the court was temporarily relocated from April 2010 to January 2016 to another listed building at Neuer Markt 3 .

The Rostock Higher Regional Court and the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) are superordinate to the Rostock Regional Court. The district courts of Güstrow and Rostock are subordinate .

Public prosecutor

Rostock Public Prosecutor's Office building

The Rostock public prosecutor's office set up at the Rostock Regional Court is responsible for the entire regional court district. In commercial criminal matters, her area of competence as a public prosecutor's office also extends to the Stralsund district court. It is housed in Doberaner Str. 116.
