coat of arms

The draft emblem of Bennemühlen comes from the in Isernhagen born and later in Hannover living heraldry and crest painter peoples Gustav , who has the coat of arms of Großburgwedel , Melle village , Wunstorf has designed and many other towns. The approval of the coat of arms was granted by the district president in Lüneburg on July 1, 1966.

Bennemühlen coat of arms
Blazon : "In silver from a diagonal, blue shield base , topped with a silver wolf's tang , a black mill wheel protrudingfrom waves , topped with a standing, red mill iron ."
Justification for the coat of arms: The mill wheel is supposed to remind of the former manor mill, which assumed a monopoly position as a ban mill. In this mill wheel you can see a mill iron that has the task of moving the millstone. The “von Bennemühlen” family also had such a mill iron in their coat of arms, which gave the place its name. This family appears in documents from the 14th and 15th centuries and is then replaced by another gender. After locating the coat of arms, it was possible to adopt the symbols in the local coat of arms in the same shape and color. The water falls in from above, as was the case with medium-sized water mills. The Wolfsangel expresses the community's affiliation with the Burgdorf district .

Economy and Infrastructure

Bennemühlen station on the Heidebahn

Bennemühlen is a small, very rural place. With the exception of a restaurant, it has little local infrastructure. There is a fire station with a fire engine.

The place is the terminus of the Hanover S-Bahn , which is used by many commuters. Up until 2011, it was necessary to switch to the Heidesprinter ( Erixx ) in Bennemühlen (currently only in rare exceptional cases such as operational disruptions ). In the direction of Mellendorf and Soltau, the connection is only single-track. The traction power supply also ends in Bennemühlen, so that the onward journey in the direction of Soltau is only possible with diesel-powered vehicles. Bennemühlen is served by three GVH bus routes.
