coat of arms
The Berkhof municipal coat of arms was designed by the heraldist and coat of arms painter Gustav Völker , who designed all the coats of arms in the Hanover region. The approval of the coat of arms was granted by the district president in Lüneburg on June 10, 1965.
Blazon : "A rising, curly tip in red , covered with a green birch leaf , a silver S in the shape of a swan at the front, the left half of a silver mill wheel at the back." | |
Justification of the coat of arms: The coat of arms, divided into three fields, shows a special symbol for each district. The district of Berkhof, which gave the name to the former municipality after the merger in 1928, is symbolized by the birch leaf, which refers to the name of this district. In the Sprockhof district , a now extinct family of the same name used to live, from whose family coat of arms the gooseneck-shaped S was taken. The district of Plumhof is symbolized by the half mill wheel, because this is where the old, now disused cattle mill, a water mill, is located. |
