geography

The church district covers the area of the municipalities of Burgwedel , Isernhagen , Langenhagen and Wedemark . It was created on January 1, 2001 from what was then the Burgwedel church district and parts of the Hanover-North church district. The church district is characterized on the one hand by urban structures with all social problems and on the other hand by the more rural structures of the Hanover region. If, on the one hand, there are more "young" communities in Langenhagen (Matthias-Claudius, Paulus, Emmaus, Elia), in rural areas there are often very old communities with a historical background (Bissendorf, Brelingen, Burgwedel, Engelbostel, Isernhagen). There are currently around 58,000 Protestant Christians living in 18 parishes.

Committees and personnel

Like the other church districts of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church in Hanover, the church district Burgwedel-Langenhagen is headed by the superintendent and the parish council, which in turn elects the parish council (legislative board), parish council (executive board) and the committees involved. Church-diaconal institutions belong to the church district. The responsible parish office of Burgdorfer Land, based in Großburgwedel, shares the parish with the parish of Burgdorf.
