The Tönnies Arena is a football stadium on the premises of the Tönnies meat factory in the Rheda-Wiedenbrücker district of Rheda , Gütersloh district , North Rhine-Westphalia . It serves as a game and training facility for the women's second division football team FSV Gütersloh 2009 as well as for games by the company's operating teams, the youth teams of the FSC Rheda and the C-district division BSC Rheda.

The stadium offers seating for 3,252 visitors and standing room for 1,000 more. The infrastructure of the arena includes three speaker booths, seven press seats, 43 seats of honor, fitness rooms and a sauna. There are 2,500 parking spaces available in the vicinity of the stadium.

Tönnies is the main sponsor of FSV Gütersloh 2009. A sponsorship contract with a term until June 30, 2015 was concluded. A special permit from the DFB is required to host Bundesliga matches, as there is artificial turf in the stadium . This was given with the condition that the respective opponents must agree to the venue. If they do not do this, the FSV Gütersloh will play on natural grass in the Gütersloh Heidewald Stadium. With the exception of two clubs, all Bundesliga clubs agreed to the venue for the 2012/13 season .

The Tönnies Arena was built in a five-month construction period on a total area of 12,000 m². The construction costs amounted to five million euros. The stadium was officially opened in the presence of Franz Beckenbauer on September 2, 2012 with a game between the traditional teams of FC Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund , which was broadcast live by Sport1 . On that day, the soccer talk show Doppelpass was broadcast from the stadium. FSV Gütersloh had already played two test matches in the Tönnies Arena: on August 19 against regional division VfL Bochum (2-0) and on August 22 against second division Herford SV (1-0).

On March 6, 2013, the German U-17 national team played a test match against Georgia in the Tönnies-Arena. In front of a sold out house, Germany won 4-1. Three weeks later, due to the weather, the DFB moved two games of the second qualifying round for the U-17 European Football Championship 2013 to Rheda at short notice, which were originally supposed to take place in the Montanhydraulik Stadium in Holzwickede and the Wersestadion in Ahlen . On March 26th in the Tönnies-Arena, Ukraine won 5-1 against Estonia and then Germany won 5-2 against Bulgaria in front of 1,500 spectators.

On May 11, 2013 it was announced that there would be a cooperation between the Tönnies-Arena and Arminia Bielefeld . The collaboration was initially geared towards the coming season. Both parties had the goal of long-term cooperation beyond that. Above all, it was regulated that the Tönnies Arena could be used extensively by Arminia teams, from professionals to youth teams for test matches and training units.

On July 14, 2013, Pastor Thomas Hengstebeck from the Catholic parish of St. Clemens blessed the Tönnies-Arena as part of a family service, in which Gerald Asamoah participated, among others .

On August 25, 2015, the regional league game between SC Verl and SV Rödinghausen was played in the Tönnies-Arena.
