St. Clemens is a Catholic parish church in Rheda, East Westphalia, in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany . Church and congregation belong to the pastoral network of Rheda-Herzebrock-Clarholz (RHC) in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

history

In 1910 the neo-Romanesque building with two front towers was built according to plans by Ludwig Becker .

When the congregation grew immensely after the Second World War, a vicariate was set up in 1967 , which in 1974 became an independent parish of St. Johannes Baptist . As of June 24, 2012, however, this was repealed by an archbishop's decree on January 1, 2013 and reverted to the mother parish of St. Clemens.

organ

The mighty organ , based on baroque models, was built in 1984 on the initiative of the cantor Christoph Grohmann by the company Fischer + Krämer from Endingen, as the old instrument was viewed as inadequate. The old organ was probably created by Hinrich Klausing from Herford for the Franciscan Church in Wiedenbrück before 1677 . In 1851/1852 it was bought by the Catholic parish of Rheda and rebuilt in 1886. This led to a broadening of the prospectus. In 1911 it was transferred to the new parish church of St. Clemens. In 1960 it was expanded and restored by FW Stegerhoff (Paderborn). When the new organ was built, the old main case was restored and was retained as a Rückpositiv . The instrument has 50 stops on three manuals and a pedal.
