Hinrich Klausing
Hinrich Klausing (also Clausing ) (* 1642/43 in Rheda ; buried April 23, 1720 in Herford ) was a German organ builder in Herford.
Life
Hinrich Klausing was born in Rheda, but settled in Herford, where he worked as an independent organ builder. He probably learned his trade from Hans Heinrich Reinking ( Bielefeld ). He had five sons, two of whom took up their father's profession. His sons Johann Berenhard Klausing (before 1683–1762) and Christian Klausing (1687–1764) continued the business in the tradition of their father. After the death of the sons, the organ workshop went out.

From the 50 years of activity of Hinrich Klausing as an organ builder between 1666 and 1716 there are evidence of around 35 independent new builds or conversions. The Klausing family from Herford gained a certain reputation in north-west Germany and was also known as the "organ maker Clausing" or "Herford organ maker". In the 17th and 18th centuries, her area of activity extended between Hanover and Westphalia and from the North Sea to the Sauerland, with a focus on the Bielefeld and Osnabrück area . Due to the collaboration in the family business, the works of the three organ builders in the family cannot always be clearly distinguished. Despite their popularity, almost only small single-manual organs with a 4 'principal in the prospectus and attached pedal were built. The disposition was quite uniform and usually had six to a maximum of twelve registers. Only in a few cases did the instruments have an independent pedal behind the Hauptwerk case. In addition to the traditional Westphalian prospect structure with the characteristic two-storey pointed towers between three round towers, there are also individually designed richly decorated prospectuses with numerous pipe fields that slope outwards in steps. In later works, Hinrich Klausing no longer used a spring drawer , but used slider drawers .
List of works (selection)
In the fifth column of the table, the Roman number indicates the number of manuals , a capital "P" indicates an independent pedal , a lower-case "p" indicates an attached pedal and the Arabic number in the sixth column indicates the number of sounding registers .
