Deckbergen is an incorporated village in the Lower Saxon town of Rinteln . It is located about 7 km northeast of the old town of Rinteln.

The place extends to an altitude of about 60-150 m above sea ​​level and has 809 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2016).

history

In 1835 Deckbergen had a total of 50 houses and 340 Protestant residents (three Jewish). The place was assigned to the Rinteln district court .

“The Protestant school in Deckbergen will soon be filled elsewhere. The basic salary for the position is 1,050 marks ”, according to the 1902 Official Gazette of the Royal Government of Cassel .

Until a few decades ago, Deckbergen was a state-recognized health resort . At that time there were many pensions, with which quite a few citizens made their living.

Attractions

In the Protestant parish church of St. Petri is the 169 cm high torso of a crucifix of a triumphal cross from around 1200 .

Under local law, the districts of Deckbergen, Schaumburg and Westendorf form a locality for which a joint local council is elected.

In the local elections on September 11, 2011, the SPD had 5, the WGS 2 and the CDU 2 seats. As in the previous legislative period, the local mayor was Eckhard Hülm. In the local elections on September 11, 2016, the SPD had 4, the WGS 2 and the CDU 3 seats. Gisela Stasitzek was elected as the local mayor. She is the first woman in this position in a district of the city of Rinteln.

Economy and Infrastructure

The largest industrial company in Deckbergen is the precast concrete parts factory of the Klebl Group (Klebl Werk Deckbergen), which previously operated under the name Imbau under Philipp Holzmann AG . In addition, there are u. a. a large turkey fattening company, a shoe factory, various small businesses in various industries and some shops such as B. a bakery and a snack bar.

Not far south of the village are several large gravel ponds on Kleinenwiedener Straße, which are used for fishing and swimming in summer. Until the end of the 1990s there was a small swimming pool in the northernmost part of Deckbergen - right on the edge of the forest - which was closed due to insufficient visitor numbers.

Since Deckbergen was connected to the telephone network at the time via the Hessisch-Oldendorf exchange (Rohdener Weg), the location does not have the area code of Rinteln, but of Hessisch Oldendorf (05152).

Deckbergen has been connected to the DSL Internet since July 2011, also from Hessisch Oldendorf.

The B 83 running through Deckbergen was expanded in 1999/2000. The station in Deckbergen, operated until 1983 on the Elze – Löhne railway line , was closed due to inadequate operation - today only the remains of the station tracks can be found in the southern part of Deckbergen.
