The Paschenburg was built in 1842 in the style of a small hunting lodge by the district forester Karl Kaysers at the time; it has no castle characteristics . It used to be a simple hostel; today there is a panorama restaurant there. Right next to the building is a small observation tower that was built in 1827.

Opportunities for viewing

From the Paschenburg, a broad view extends in a southerly direction from east to west over the Upper Weser Valley and far beyond, for example, to the Lippe Uplands . If the visibility is good , you can see the Hermannsdenkmal, about 41 km away, above Detmold , to the south-west . In a south-easterly direction you can make out the Brocken , about 107 km away , the highest mountain in the Harz .

Attractions

There is a sculptor's workshop directly north of the Paschenburg.

West of the Pagenburg there are some deep crevices directly on the Kammweg, some of which are barred to protect the bats that live there . The Schaumburg is located below the Paschenburg . 100 meters northeast of the Paschenburg is a small war cemetery . Eight German soldiers are buried on it who died as members of the Braunschweig Officers School on April 11, 1945 near the Paschenburg while fighting against advancing soldiers of the 102nd US Infantry Division.

Traffic and walking

The K 72 runs a little north past the Paschenburg between the state road  434 ( Rohdental - Rehren ) in the east and the district road  71 ( Deckbergen - Bernsen / Borstel ) in the west. The European long-distance hiking trail E11 , the Weserberglandweg and other long-distance hiking, pilgrimage and themed trails also lead along the ridge of the Weser Mountains. There is a circular hiking trail between the Paschenburg and Schaumburg.
