Weserberglandweg

The Weserberglandweg is a long- distance hiking trail of around 225 kilometers that follows the course of the Weser as the confluence of Werra and Fulda near Hann. Münden to the Porta Westfalica breakthrough in the Weser in the area of ​​the city ​​of Porta Westfalica follows in 13 suggested daily stages. A blue XW on a light green background has been a signpost since autumn 2012. This new signage has replaced the old black and white XW mark and was implemented as a quality path as part of the certification.

The trail has been developed in accordance with the new quality criteria of the premium hiking trails since 2009. Up until autumn 2012, the Weserberglandweg was upgraded primarily through a more natural route. This route is supervised by Weserbergland Tourismus eV in cooperation with the Weserbergland and Solling-Vogler nature parks and local hiking clubs. During the Tour Natur trade fair in Düsseldorf in September 2012, the Weserberglandweg was awarded the seal of quality hiking trails in Germany by the German Hiking Association.

The trail has been part of the Top Trails of Germany merger since 2015 .

The Weserberglandweg runs through the various low mountain ranges of the Weserbergland , mainly the Reinhardswald , Solling and the Wesergebirge . With Helmarshausen , Nienover and Amelungsborn there are three important places from the Middle Ages on the route .
