geography

Lüntorf is located in the middle of the Weserbergland on the Ottenstein plateau between the towns of Ottenstein , Grohnde and Welsede .

history

The place Lüntorf is likely to have originated around the year 800. The first residents founded the settlement "Lundorpe" or "Hundorpe" (for example "Dorf am Sumpf") in a swampy place on the "Alten Grohnder Weg" northeast of the current location and surrounded the settlement with a wall. They probably fought in the Battle of Ohr with the Count of Everstein against the Dukes of Braunschweig. The first known documentary mention of the place was on August 15, 1349, when Count Heinrich von Schwalenberg gave Count Hermann von Everstein his "feudal right" over the village. Later, around 1500, the residents moved to the current location. Thirteen years later, in 1513, Hartung (Herbord) von Frenke sold the village "Hundorpe" to Eberhard von Münchhausen. From this year on Lüntorf belonged to the Grohnde office. Towards the end of the 16th century, 1585, a pattern roll "The population of the Principality of Calenberg-Göttingen" shows that 8 half-men, 14 Kötner and 4 house-dwellers lived in Lüntorf. In the event of war, 9 men had to line up with fire pipes. With a donation of 44 4/5 acres of forest, Drost Statius von Münchhausen made it possible to build the Lüntorf church in 1618. In 1812 it was expanded to include the present sanctuary. Today Lüntorf belongs to the municipality of Emmerthal.

On January 1, 1973 Lüntorf was incorporated into the new municipality of Emmerthal.
