Grohnde is a district of the municipality Emmerthal in the Hameln-Pyrmont district in Lower Saxony.
geography
The place is located in the Weserbergland between Bodenwerder , Bad Pyrmont and Hameln directly on the Weser .
history
Around 1421, a Grohnde castle is mentioned, which is to be regarded as the forerunner of Grohnde Castle . The office of Ohsen was assigned to the office of Grohnde in 1823 , before it was again incorporated into the office of Hameln in 1859. Since the last bridge in Grohnde was destroyed during the Thirty Years War (1633), a yaw ferry has been crossing the river , although it is only in operation in summer.
The area Grohnde went on January 1, 1973 by the "law for the reorganization of the community in the Hameln area" of November 20, 1972 together with 16 other previously independent communities in the community of Emmerthal. Against violent protests in the 1970s, the Grohnde nuclear power plant went into commercial operation on February 1, 1985.

Culture and sights
- In the center of Grohndes there is a former moated castle , which was first mentioned in 1421. The castle was later an official bailiwick and is now a domain .
- The ev.-luth is also centrally located. Philipp Spitta Church.
- A Grohnder ferry across the Weser has been known at the Grohnder Fährhaus since 1633. Today's ferry is a yaw ferry that was built around 1931. It carries up to 45 people or a load of 12.9 tons on board.
- Grohnde is best known for the Grohnde nuclear power plant north of the village .
