Place name

The historical documents in older times do not yet differentiate between Kirch-, Hagen- or Nordohsen. The basic form of Ohsen is “Usana”, in which one can see an old base “us-” and a word formation element “-n-”. "Us-" has the basic meaning "damp, wet, swampy".
