history

As a result of the Second World War , the number of Catholics in the area around Hameln , which has been evangelical since the Reformation, increased considerably due to the influx of refugees and displaced persons from the eastern regions of the German Empire . In 1949 a Catholic parish began to form south of Hameln, initially with its seat in Börry , then in Grohnde . Their services took place in a stable, Protestant church or in the Röhrsen inn.

In 1961 the church building site in Kirchohsen was acquired. The foundation stone of the church was laid on October 28, 1962, and its consecration on December 15, 1963 by Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen . Thus Kirchohsen became the seat of the parish. The church tower was not erected until 1976 for financial reasons. On December 1, 1985 the parish “St. Family ”in Emmerthal-Kirchohsen.
