Horst Schairer (born May 10, 1944 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Horst Schairer played for the Stuttgarter Kickers since his youth , from 1962 to 1964 he was active for the amateur team of the Kickers. Under coach Hans Eberle , the long-time defender made his debut on February 27, 1966 in a 0-1 home defeat against VfR Mannheim in the then second -rate regional football league South . On his debut, he stormed left winger and center runner Rolf Steeb failed with a penalty kick to VfR goalkeeper Hans Benzler in the 13th minute . In total, he came to seven missions this season alongside the top performers Herbert Dienelt , Horst Haug , Rudi Kröner , Dieter Schurr , Peter Schäffler , Gert Fröhlich and Helmut Fürther . The Kickers took fifth place. Even in the first coaching year of the former master maker of VfB Stuttgart, Georg Wurzer , in the following round in 1966/67, Schairer did not get beyond the role of a supplementary player for the "Blue". From the second Wurzer season 1968/69, the status of Schairer changed; he played his way up to the regular seats in 1967/68 and from 1968/69 belonged to the regular Kickers line-up for over ten years. Under Wurzer he experienced the best placements with three fourth places in a row, from 1967 to 1969. With players like Erich Schmeil , Rainer Eisenhardt (1967/68: 31-21), Erich Weixler , Karl-Heinz Mrosko and Jürgen Schieck , the entry into the Bundesliga promotion round was missed.

After Wurzer, from the 1969/70 season, Gerd Menne took over the coaching position in Degerloch, Wurzer returned for a year in 1970/71, before joining Thomas Barthel (1971/72), Willibald Hahn (1972/73) and Fritz Millinger (1973) / 74) the coaches took turns every year and the era of the second-rate Regionalliga Süd was ended, but no performance in the top group could be achieved. Overall, Schairer is led with 214 regional league games with six goals from 1965 to 1974.

When the two-tier 2nd Bundesliga started operating in the 1974/75 season, the Kickers from Stuttgart belonged to the southern season. In a season of 20, relegation was just prevented with 16th rank. Coach Millinger was replaced by Rudi Kröner in September 1974 and Schairer played 32 competitive games in his debut year in the 2nd Bundesliga. He was also on the first game day of the 2nd league, August 3, 1974 in a 1-1 home draw against SV Waldhof Mannheim on the lawn. Rolf Gerstenlauer was in goal and in defense, in addition to right defender Schairer, Vorstopper Rainer Thiel , libero Dieter Dollmann and left defender Alois Schindler ran up.

Between 1966 and 1979 he played 335 games in the blue jersey and scored seven goals. His last game in the 2nd league was played by Schairer under coach Hans-Dieter Roos on November 19, 1978 in a 1-1 away draw at Eintracht Trier. After the end of his career, the defender emigrated to the USA . So Schairer only worked for one club in his professional career.
