Peter Schäffler (born November 16, 1939 ) is a former German soccer player . From 1963 to 1973 he played a total of 319 league games in the second-rate regional leagues Southwest and South for the ASV Landau and Stuttgarter Kickers clubs , scoring 15 goals.

Career as a footballer

Schäffler's path initially led from 1. FC Rechberghausen and SV Göppingen to the amateurs of VfB Stuttgart in 1961 . With the VfB amateurs he won the German amateur championship in 1963 . After two seasons in reserve at VfB, he moved to the second-class Regionalliga Südwest for ASV Landau . With Landau he finished 19th in 1963/64 and he had completed 33 league games for the relegated team at the side of fellow player Franz Schmitt and scored five goals. He returned to Stuttgart in the summer of 1964 and was active for the Stuttgarter Kickers in the second highest division of the South Regional Football League for nine years. Under coach Georg Wurzer , Schäffler and his teammates took fourth place three times in a row, 1966/67 to 1968/69. For the 1973/74 round he went back to the amateur camp and joined the SV Göppingen.

Professional

Professionally, Schäffler worked as a sales manager at the Kickers sponsor Autohaus Staiger.
