Helmut "Fitus" Fürther (born May 15, 1941 ) is a former German soccer player. From 1963 to 1973, the attacker scored 113 goals in 312 league appearances in the then second -rate regional football league South for the Stuttgarter Kickers , making him the record-breaking regional league player as well as the Kickers' record scorer.

Career

Fürth, until 1963

From 1951 to 1959 Helmut Fürther played in the youth of SpVgg Fürth , where he made the leap into the contract team for the 1960/61 season via the amateur team (1959/60). At the age of 19, the offensive talent made his debut in the then first-class Oberliga Süd . On October 16, 1960 he ran as a center forward in the then World Cup system in a 2-0 away win at Jahn Regensburg. The "Kleeblattelf" attacked with Karl "Ossi" Schmidt , Alfred Stumptner, Fürther, Werner Schneider and Wolfgang Brzuske. But it stayed in his first league season with this mission. In the second year, 1961/62, he scored eight goals in 19 missions, leading the game association's internal goalscorer list. In the last year of the first-class Oberliga Süd, 1962/63, Fürther appeared as a goal scorer four times in 17 league appearances. Fürth took 9th place under coach Jenö Vincze . The era of the old league ended with the game on April 28, 1963 at FC Bayern Munich (0: 1). Fürther had been active on the right wing during the defeat.

Stuttgarter Kickers, 1963 to 1973

In 1963, when the Regionalliga Süd was introduced , he switched to the Stuttgarter Kickers . There he is still one of the most successful players and goalscorers in the club's history with 312 and 113 goals. In the first Kickers year, 1963/64, the newcomer from Fürth scored eight goals in 26 league appearances; the kickers had a hard time in the new class and finished 14th with a negative score of 33:43. In the second regional league year, 1964/65, the "blues" improved to 40:32 points and thus took 7th place in the final ranking. Fürther showed what he was capable of, scoring 22 goals in 35 appearances for coach Hans Eberle's team . When the Kickers took fourth place under coach Georg Wurzer between 1967 and 1969 , Fürther was involved with a total of 39 hits. With 30 appearances and eight goals, the successful striker said goodbye to the Stuttgarter Kickers after the tenth regional league season 1972/73. In total, he had scored 113 goals in 312 league games.

After his time at Kickers, Fürther still played in the amateur field for SV Germania Bietigheim and SpVgg Stuttgart-Ost.

Others

Professionally, Helmut Fürther worked as a businessman in the printing and advertising industry and has been a member of the honorary council of the Stuttgarter Kickers since November 25, 2013 .
