Career

After elementary school, Fröhlich trained as a toolmaker . He began his football career at Germania Bietigheim and in the Württemberg amateur team. In 1962 he began his career as a professional footballer at BC Augsburg . For this he scored 17 goals in the Oberliga in 1962/63, and in 1963/64 he scored 15 goals in 27 games in the Regionalliga Süd , at that time the second highest league. In 1964/65 he played for Fortuna Düsseldorf (Regionalliga West), 1965 to 1967 for the Stuttgarter Kickers , 1967 to 1969 for Freiburg FC (both Regionalliga Süd), who only narrowly missed promotion to the Bundesliga in 1969 because of the poorer goal difference.

From 1969 to 1973 Fröhlich played for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in the Bundesliga , where he scored 9 goals in 75 appearances. From 1973 to 1975 he played again for Freiburg FC in the Regionalliga Süd. After the end of his professional career, he retrained as a wholesale and retail salesman and worked in the advertising department of the Augsburger Allgemeine Zeitung .
