Chioma Nisa Igwe (born July 21, 1986 in San Mateo , California ) is a former American soccer player .
Career
Igwe played during her studies at the University of California, Berkeley and Santa Clara University from 2004 to 2007 for the university teams there, the California Golden Bears and Santa Clara Broncos . Her first professional station was SoccerPlus Connecticut in 2008, before she briefly moved to Germany for the second division club 1. FC Saarbrücken in the summer of the same year. After just six months she returned to the United States and played for one season each for the Chicago Red Stars and the Boston Breakers , followed by another season at Bay Area Breeze . For the 2011/12 season she signed a contract with the newly promoted Bundesliga club SC Freiburg.
For the 2015/16 season she moved to SC Sand . After two seasons with SC Sand, she left SC Sand in the summer of 2017 and ended her active playing career.
Private
Chioma Igwe's father Tony Igwe took part in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico with Nigeria and was the captain of the Nigerian national soccer team from 1969 to 1973 . Her brothers Kelechi and Amaechi Igwe are or were also active as soccer players and played with the Santa Clara Broncos at the beginning of their careers.
