Adolf von Blome

Baron Adolf Friedrich von Blome (born March 15, 1798 on Gut Salzau ; † July 10, 1875 on Heiligenstedten ) was a Holstein landowner, lawyer, Danish diplomat and politician.

Life

Blome came from the Salzau line of the von Blome family . His father was Baron Friedrich von Blome (1769-1818), his mother Charlotte nee. Countess of Platen-Hallermund (1778–1857). Otto von Blome (1795-1884) raised to the rank of Count on Salzau etc. was his older brother, Gustav von Blome his nephew.

He studied law at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin , the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . After the exams, he joined the Danish diplomatic service. From 1832 to 1841 he was the Danish envoy in London .

In 1849, after the death of his uncle Otto von Blome (1770–1849) , he took over the entails of the Heiligenstedten estate with the Bahrenfleth , Bekmünde , Bekhof and Blomesche Wildnis marshes . In 1848 he belonged to the Schleswig-Holstein regional assembly and from 1851 to 1852 he was chairman of the highest civil authority in the duchies. From 1852 to 1856 he was bitter (legal representative) of the noble monastery of Itzehoe . In 1856 he became a member of the Danish Imperial Council. In the dispute over the Schleswig-Holstein question , he rejected the inheritance claims of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg . In 1864 he advocated the annexation of the two duchies to the Kingdom of Prussia , which was implemented two years later.

In 1823 he married Franziska von Reventlow (1803-1856), a daughter of General Heinrich Graf Reventlow auf Wittenberg and Anna Sophie geb. Countess Baudissin . The couple had four sons and six daughters.

Blome died at the age of 77 and was buried in Probsteierhagen .
