The Stadtwerke Halle GmbH, headquartered in Halle (Saale) , provides energy and water supply via public transport, collection of recyclables, sanitation, waste disposal, street cleaning, winter maintenance, logistics, landfill and infrastructure services and data processing services to Bäderbetrieb and city illumination as Group of companies all services of municipal services of general interest and services for the economy from a single source.
history
Stadtwerke Halle GmbH was founded on June 25, 1991 and merged on September 21, 2009 with the municipal holding, Verwaltungsgesellschaft für Versorgungs- und Verkehrsbetriebe der Stadt Halle (Saale) mbH (VVV). The new holding company is still called Stadtwerke Halle GmbH. This means that HAVAG, Halle's public transport system, has been integrated into the municipal holding company. At the beginning of 2010, the Halle-Lochau landfill was sold by the city to Stadtwerke. In the same year the municipal baths were handed over to the Stadtwerke Halle.
The turbine rotor monument in Halle on the site of the Halle-Trotha thermal power station is reminiscent of the “Rudolf Breitscheid” lignite-fired thermal power station.
Group structure
Stadtwerke Halle is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the city of Halle (Saale). In the 2018 financial year, the group achieved sales of 615 million euros.
Stadtwerke Halle operates in the four business areas of energy (energy supply, energy efficiency services), water and disposal (water supply, wastewater disposal, waste disposal, secondary raw materials), mobility (local public transport, mobility, logistics) and services (municipal infrastructure services, internal services) .

EVH GmbH operates two power plants in Halle, the Halle-Dieselstrasse power plant (in the EVH) and the Halle-Trotha power plant. Both are gas and steam turbine power plants with combined heat and power .
The supply networks for electrical energy, natural gas and district heating belong to Energieversorgung Halle Netz GmbH.
Water and disposal
The Halle-Nord sewage treatment plant operated by Hallesche Wasser und Stadtwirtschaft GmbH is one of the most modern large-scale biological sewage treatment plants of its kind. The fully utilized plant can clean up to 75,000 cubic meters of wastewater per day. Employees of Halleschen Wasser und Stadtwirtschaft GmbH permanently monitor compliance with legally prescribed limit values and other monitoring values at the outlet into the Saale.
Hallesche Wasser und Stadtwirtschaft GmbH operates the pipeline network for the drinking water supply and the sewer network for wastewater disposal .
Hallesche Wasser- und Stadtwirtschaft GmbH also operates a number of waste management systems, including: sorting systems, hazardous waste interim storage facilities and recyclable materials markets. Abfallwirtschaft GmbH Halle-Lochau manages the Halle-Lochau landfill site. RAB Halle GmbH operates a sorting system for residual and bulky waste on the site of the Halle-Lochau landfill.
Logistics and local public transport
The SWH company Hallesche Verkehrs Aktiengesellschaft (HAVAG) operates tram and bus services in Halle as well as a tram route in the surrounding area to Bad Dürrenberg. It also has two depots with storage, maintenance and workshop facilities in Freiimfelderstrasse and at Rosengarten.
The Container Terminal Halle (Saale) GmbH operates the Halle (Saale) public inland port with the main focus on the Halle Saale Container Terminal - CTHS for short - and focuses its services within the logistics chain on the handling of sea containers for import and export worldwide. This basis is the starting point for further logistical services at the Halle port location.
Municipal infrastructure
Maya mare GmbH & Ko. KG operates the Mexican-style bathing and sauna paradise Maya Mare , which was built in the shell of an old waterworks. The Bäder Halle GmbH (BHG) looks after seven swimming pools: the three indoor pools Neustadt, Saline and Stadtbad, as well as the two outdoor pools Saline and Nordbad and the Angersdorfer Teiche natural pool. In addition, the BHG operates the swimming pool in the sports complex on Robert-Koch-Straße on behalf of the city of Halle.
