The exhibits include technical devices and devices from the fields of energy supply, water supply, sewage disposal, local public transport and waste disposal. The switch house systems are still in their original state and offer a historical picture of the electrical engineering of the past century.

building

The switch house was built in 1928 as a substation . The planning and project planning was carried out by Wilhelm Jost, the Halle city planner at the time . The building measures 40 meters in length and 13 meters in width and has three levels:

The facilities were modernized in 1972. In 1998, the 15/3 kV transformers were dismantled and the structure was used exclusively as a switch house. This function ceased in 2010 when the systems were taken out of service.

The switching house forms a building complex with the water tower south and the drinking water underground tank located in between and was made of dark red brick masonry. The vertical effect of the water tower and the broad cubes of the switch house and underground container stand in contrast to one another.
