Tram Museum Halle
The Halle Tram Museum is located in the former depot of today's Halleschen Verkehrs-AG in Seebener Strasse 191 in Halle (Saale) . It currently houses around 40 historic tram vehicles and motor vehicles (cars, trucks and buses). The museum is usually open every 1st and 3rd Saturday from May to October. On the opening days, the city tour runs with historic railcars. The association Hallesche Straßenbahnfreunde e. V. operates the museum and also carries out maintenance and repair work on the railways.
Building
The museum is located in a nine-track carriage hall, which was initially built with six tracks in 1898 as part of a tram depot. A later extension added three tracks. The depot included a simple two-and-a-half-story administration building, which is now used for residential purposes, as well as a coal-fired power station , which has since been demolished, and a workshop area. The car hall and administration building were equipped with a facade of yellow and red bricks in the style of Wilhelminian- style functional buildings.
history
The network of the Halle tram was electrified from 1891. Until then, the depot was in Klosterstrasse. In 1899 it was moved to the newly built depot on Seebener Straße. Following the growing network, a new, much larger depot was built in Freiimfelder Strasse in 1928 . The facility on Seebener Strasse was still used as a parking facility until 1968. From this time on, older vehicles that were no longer used according to the schedule were stored here. From 1996 the depot was opened to visitors as a museum.
vehicles
The following lists show the museum's electric railcars and a total of seven sidecars for passenger transport . In addition, the museum has a number of rail-mounted trailers for other purposes (rail-mounted snow plow (built in 1931), rail tower wagons (built in 1930), battery trucks (built in 1949), rail ladder cars, transport trucks (built in 1921), workshop trucks (built in 1922 / 1957)). The locomotives include some examples from other existing and former tram companies ( Altenburg , Kirnitzschtalbahn , Naumburg , Plauen ), which have been included in the museum as historical vehicles.
This is followed by a compilation of the seven historic buses and trailers from the manufacturers Ikarus and IFA from the years 1956 to 1989, as well as the seven historic truck and car models from the manufacturers Sachsenring , IFA and Gorkowski Awtomobilny Sawod (GAZ) available in the museum .
