Stefan Emmerling (born February 10, 1966 in Heidelberg ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player . Emmerling has been the head coach of BSV Kickers Emden since July 2019 .

Player career

From 1987 to 2000 Emmerling played 249 Bundesliga and 106 second division games for 1. FC Kaiserslautern , SG Wattenscheid 09 , Hannover 96 and MSV Duisburg . On the 22nd matchday of the 1996/97 Bundesliga season he scored three own goals against FC Schalke 04 in the MSV Duisburg jersey . To this day, he tops the list of the most own goals scored in a Bundesliga game. From 2000 to 2002 he was under contract with the regional division Fortuna Düsseldorf. From April 3, 2002, Emmerling led the training of Fortuna together with Pierre Esser during the last regional league games, where he promoted the later Bundesliga professional Axel Bellinghausen to the first team.

Coaching career

The second team of Alemannia Aachen (until 2005 Alemannia Aachen Amateure, from 2005 officially "Alemannia Aachen II") was the first station of the former Bundesliga professional as a coach from 2003 to 2007, initially in the Middle Rhine League , later in the regional and upper leagues . He led the team in the 2006/07 season in second place in the Oberliga Nordrhein .

From summer 2007 to April 2009 Emmerling was the coach of the third division Kickers Emden , which withdrew the license application for the third division for economic reasons.

On April 9, 2009 , Stefan Emmerling was signed as the new coach of Rot Weiss Ahlen . He took up his post early on April 16, 2009 after Ahlen asked Emden for clearance due to the tense sporting situation and Emmerling had terminated his contract with the Kickers. On September 20, 2009 , Emmerling was given leave of absence as a trainer at RW Ahlen after persistent failure. At the end of March 2010 , Emmerling was signed as head coach by the third division club Rot-Weiß Erfurt and received a contract until the end of the 2009/10 season, which should automatically be extended by one year in the event of relegation. After a 0: 2 against Arminia Bielefeld on the 6th matchday of the 3rd division, Emmerling was dismissed by Rot-Weiß Erfurt. Until then, he and his team had only scored one point.

Since December 21, 2012 , Emmerling has been a trainer at the Southwest regional division Wormatia Worms, replacing Ronny Borchers . After a 3-1 defeat against SVN Zweibrücken , Emmerling resigned from his post on September 29, 2013. The team had previously slipped to 14th place in the table and could not meet expectations for the 2013/2014 season .

At the beginning of the 2016/17 season, Emmerling became the coach of the 2nd team at 1. FC Köln. During the season he switched to the head coach position at SC Paderborn 07 . Under his leadership, the team scored 9 points in 14 games. Due to the threat of relegation, he was given leave of absence on April 16, 2017.

In November 2017, Stefan Emmerling took over the coaching position at Rot-Weiß Erfurt again. The insolvent club ended the season as the last beaten and rose from the 3rd division . At the end of the 2017/18 season, the collaboration with Emmerling was also ended.

On July 3, 2019 it was announced that Stefan Emmerling will again take over the coaching position at Kickers Emden .
