Klaus Hofsäss

Klaus Hofsäss (born December 17, 1948 in Dornstetten ) is a German tennis coach . Under his leadership, the German women won the title in the Fed Cup team competition twice , in 1987 in Vancouver against the United States and in 1992 in Frankfurt against Spain .

Hofsäss was one of her advisors during Steffi Graf's career . Even Claudia Kohde-Kilsch , Bettina Bunge , Anke Huber and today's Fed Cup team boss Barbara Rittner were supervised by him.

Coaching career

Hofsäss' career began in 1978 when he became an association trainer in Lower Saxony. Three years later he was appointed national coach by the German Tennis Association . He first worked with the youngsters and shortly afterwards became the women's team boss. He won the European Cup twice with German youth teams.

In 1984 Hofsäss founded the tennis center Marbella College Hofsäss (MCH) named after him in Elviria near Marbella in southern Spain . There he initially worked as a freelance trainer, and later acquired the system. The German Tennis Federation officially awarded the college the designation of an association base.

Klaus Hofsäss initially worked for several years as the DTB women's team boss on a fee basis. Numerous world-class players came to his facility for training - in addition to the women mentioned, stars such as Boris Becker , Stefan Edberg , Thomas Muster and Andrea Temesvári . The Spaniard Arantxa Sánchez Vicario , one of Steffi Graf's toughest rivals for years, was introduced to world class in the MCH.

Hofsäss led the late Michael Westphal from Hamburg as a personal supervisor in the world class and was involved in a similar role for Nicolas Kiefer . With him as coach, Kiefer achieved his highest world ranking position - fourth. Boris Becker and Anke Huber won the Hopman Cup in Australia with Hofsäss as supervisors , and for a number of years the native of Swabia was the head coach of the Mercedes Junior Team with Boris Becker. In his Spanish college he repeatedly produces top-class players - most recently the Belarusian Wiktoryja Asaranka , who won the junior tournament at the Australian Open and various other major titles in 2005 as a 15-year-old .

Hofsäss also appeared as an advertising partner of Ferrero in advertising campaigns for milk cuts in the 1990s .
