The Qatar Total Open 2014 was a professional women's tennis tournament in the Premier 5 category and thus part of the WTA Tour 2014 . It took place between February 10 and 16, 2014 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha , Qatar and was the twelfth edition of the tournament.

The defending champion in the individual Wiktoryja Asaranka could not take part in the tournament due to an injury , just like the world number one Serena Williams and world number three Maria Sharapova . Romanian Simona Halep secured victory with a final victory over Angelique Kerber . Halep won her seventh overall WTA title in Doha and her first Premier5 title on the tour.

The defending champions in doubles were world number one in doubles and top seeded Italians Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci . But they had to give up prematurely in the semi-finals. The pairing Hsieh Su-wei and Peng Shuai secured the doubles title . After Doha, Shuai Peng became the first Asian world number one in doubles and the first Asian woman ever to top a tennis world rankings.

The qualification for the Qatar Total Open 2014 took place from February 8th to 9th, 2014. Eight qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
