Brian Arthur Mikkelsen (born January 31, 1966 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish politician of the Conservative People's Party . He has been a member of the Folketing since 1994 and has been chairman of the Conservative parliamentary group since June 2012.

Mikkelsen studied political science at the University of Copenhagen from 1986 to 1994 , when he received a seat of parliament. From November 2001 he was Minister of Culture in Anders Fogh Rasmussen's cabinet . During his tenure, he has repeatedly drawn attention to himself through decidedly conservative standpoints and has drawn criticism. At his suggestion, Denmark's cultural canon was created in 2006 . He was particularly active in the field of sport, including as a member of the international anti-doping commission , of which he was vice-chairman from late 2005 to late 2006.

In September 2008, following the withdrawal of party leader Bendt Bendtsen, he moved to the Ministry of Justice, whose previous boss Lene Espersen took over both the party chairmanship and the Ministry of Economics from Bendtsen. From February 23, 2010 to October 3, 2011, Mikkelsen held the post of Minister of Economics. From November 28, 2016 to June 27, 2019, he was Minister of Commerce in the Rasmussen III cabinet .
