history

In 1900 the Allgemeine Plakatgesellschaft (APG) was founded as a public limited company in Geneva. The shares had been listed on the Geneva Stock Exchange since 1904, and on the Zurich Stock Exchange from 1992 onwards.

In 1996, APG took a stake in Europlakat International Werbegesellschaft, with which it was present in Austria, Germany, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Serbia-Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary. In 1999, the company management decided to transfer APG and various investments into a holding structure. The new name was Affichage.

Greece debacle

On May 27, 2006, Affichage signed a handwritten agreement with the Greek entrepreneur Phillip Vrionis , which laid the foundation for the largest loss-making business in the company's history. As a result, the company suffered damage of 150 million francs. A group of shareholders under Max Müller sued several members of the board of directors for 150 million in damages, among them the former chairman of the board Klaus Hug, the former chairman of the executive board Christian Kauter and the chairman of the board Jean-François Decaux . The lawsuit was eventually dropped. The report on the Greece affair prepared by the Deloitte auditors in 2011 was also kept under lock and key.

Concentration on the home market

After the failed expansion in Greece, Affichage began to concentrate on the home market of Switzerland. In 2010 the board of directors decided to sell the foreign holdings with the exception of Serbia. APG | SGA is successfully active in the Serbian market under the name "Alma Quattro". This process was completed in 2013. The name Affichage was also changed at the end of 2011 and the company has been renamed APG | SGA AG since January 2012.
