The AutoScout24 GmbH, based in Munich, is a leading European online marketplace for buying and selling new cars, used cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles. The company was part of the Scout24 Group until April 2020 , when it was sold to Hellman & Friedman. AutoScout24 is represented in 17 countries with its vehicle offers and services and employs around 400 people across Europe.

AutoScout24 is a leading European online automobile advertising portal. The online vehicle market enables the purchase and sale of new vehicles, used cars, motorcycles, parts and accessories. The car portal with its products and services is aimed at private consumers, dealers, manufacturers and advertisers. Since 2012, users of AutoScout24 have also rated “excellent” on the eKomi online evaluation platform. AutoScout24 publishes the AGPI every month and provides insights into price changes for used cars. Over 45,000 dealers across Europe use the online marketplace to buy and sell vehicles to one another and to sell to private car buyers.

history

In 1998, today's AutoScout24 was put online for the first time as Mastercar.de car platform with 350 used vehicles. In the middle of the year the website had 50,000 page views per month, 10,000 vehicles and business activities in Spain and Italy. In 1999, today's AutoScout24 GmbH was renamed and founded and integrated into the Scout24 Group. The first TV spots on German television and 400,000 page views per month followed. Expansion of the business areas through MotoScout24 with motorcycles, scooters, mopeds, mopeds and quad bikes. In October 2001 the first issue of the AutoScout24 magazine was published. The company's own newsletter now has around 1 million subscribers. Also in 2001, what is now called AutoScout24 Trucks, started its activities for the digital trade of commercial vehicles. In 2006 the provider founded the AutoScout24 Academy as a training area for dealers.

Until April 2020, Scout24 was the operator and owner of the mediation platform. The private equity company Hellman & Friedman announced that it had bought the platform for 2.84 billion euros.

On July 4th, 2020 AutoScout24 acquired the majority stake in the leading online leasing platform "LeasingMarkt.de".

AutoScout24 magazine

The AutoScout24 magazine is created and published by a multi-member editorial team. It provides information on the portal and in a newsletter about innovations relating to the topic of automobiles, creates its own test reports for new and used cars as well as vehicle tests by brand and reports the latest from automotive trade fairs such as the North American International Auto Show , Detroit , the Geneva Motor Show , the Paris Motor Show or the IAA Frankfurt am Main .

Function and range of services

Registration and use of basic sales services is free of charge for private interested parties and private vehicle providers. There are two ways available. In classic advertising, AutoScout24 offers buyers and sellers a marketplace for free trade. With the express sale from AutoScout24, car owners have the opportunity to sell their vehicle to a registered dealer within three working days. After registering, private consumers who want to sell their vehicle on AutoScout24 have access to a protected area in which they can describe their vehicle, add photos, publish and edit it on the go. Car dealers register as commercial dealers and use the platform services for a fee. Buyers can search for vehicles using search masks and filters. For a quick search, only the categories brand, model, price, first registration, mileage, price, first registration are requested. The vehicle search can be supplemented in detail with up to ten additional search parameters. You can save interesting cars on the notepad. In addition to buying and selling, AutoScout24 offers services, tools and expertise, such as B. a vehicle valuation, information on car financing, leasing, car insurance and a glossary with the car dictionary. AutoScout24 offers mobile access via the iPhone , iPad , Android and Windows app as well as the mobile version of the website. The apps use Aymo for targeted advertising .

Security and data protection

The German AutoScout24 GmbH has committed itself to the self-regulation of the German Data Protection Council Online Advertising DDOW and has formulated a company's own self-regulation code, which, together with the data protection declaration, is intended to ensure, among other things, the display of advertising anonymously, i.e. without personal data such as name information, email address or IP address.
