Corina Morariu (born January 26, 1978 in Detroit , Michigan ) is a former American tennis player of Romanian descent.
Career
Corina Morariu was best known as a dual specialist. At the side of Lindsay Davenport she won the Wimbledon Championships in 1999 and with her she was in the final of the Australian Open in 2005 . Together with the South African Ellis Ferreira , she secured the mixed title at the Australian Open in 2001 .
Morariu won a total of one single and 14 double titles in her career. On April 3, 2000 she was number 1 in the double world rankings for the first time , which she led for a total of seven weeks.
In 2001 the American was diagnosed with leukemia . After her recovery - she had undergone chemotherapy , among other things - she returned to the tour. After her defeat in the quarter-finals of the US Open , Corina Morariu announced her resignation on September 19, 2007.

Corina Morariu at the 2009 US Open
In 2002 she received the first Corina Comeback Award . The prize was named after Morariu by the WTA and presented to her as the first prize winner by Jennifer Capriati .
In 2002 she received another WTA Tour Comeback Player of the Year award from the WTA .
After her tennis career
Morariu has been a commentator for the US TV broadcaster Tennis Channel since the French Open 2009 .
In February 2010, she published her first book entitled Living through the Racket: How I Survived Leukemia and Rediscovered My Self .
