Jose Rubin Statham (born April 25, 1987 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand tennis player .

Career

Jose Statham mainly plays on the ATP Challenger Tour and the ITF Future Tour . So far, he has celebrated eight single and 19 double victories on the Future Tour. His highest position in the world rankings was 279th in singles in February 2013 and 139th in doubles in June 2013.

He made his debut on the ATP World Tour in January 2008 in Auckland , where he lost his first round game against Albert Montañés in straight sets. He also achieved his first victory in Auckland : In 2010 he won the first round match in two sets against his compatriot Daniel King-Turner . With his twin brother Mikal Statham he also lost four times in four tournaments at his home tournament in Auckland in doubles.

Since 2005 he has played for the New Zealand Davis Cup team . He lost his first game in the encounter with the United States in straight sets against Scott Lipsky .
