Canterra is a symphonic metal band from Leipzig .
history
Canterra was founded in 2006 by singer Korinna König and guitarist Hendrik Zantop under the name "Oleum". Until 2009 the band line-up varied, the group now renamed "Avatar". In 2010 the band recorded their first EP Echoes of Fear , published the CD themselves and opened up for Lord of the Lost . After another line-up, the group was renamed “Canterra” in 2011. In 2014 she started working on her debut album, which was funded by a crowdfunding campaign and the Wacken Foundation . The debut First Escape was released on February 19, 2016 on the independent label Kick the Flame. Following the release, Canterra toured Germany as the opening act for Lacrimosa .
style
The group playing symphonic metal is traded under the collective term Gothic Metal due to their popularity in the black scene and their corresponding appearance . However, compared to the solo releases of the former Nightwish singer Tarja Turunen .
