Serhij Sergejewitsch Bubka ( Ukrainian Сергій Сергійович Бубка , English transcription Sergei Sergeevich Bubka ; born February 10, 1987 in Donetsk ) is a former Ukrainian tennis player . He is the son of the former pole vaulter Serhiy Bubka .

Career

In 2009 Bubka won his only singles title on the ATP Challenger Tour against Takao Suzuki in Kyoto . At the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships 2011 he reached the second round, which he lost in straight sets against the French Richard Gasquet . In the first lap he defeated the fifth seeded Croat Ivan Ljubičić . At the US Open 2011 he lost in the second round in the men's singles in three sets against the Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga , against whom he already lost in the second round at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2011 in two sets.

Bubka was in a relationship with the tennis player Viktoriya Azaranka . On November 1, 2012, he was seriously injured when he fell from the third floor of a house in Paris. According to previous knowledge, he should have been locked in the bathroom of a friend's apartment and he tried to get through the window into the next room. Almost a year after the accident, he made his comeback in qualifying for the Australian Open in January 2014 .

Bubka played for the Ukrainian Davis Cup team between 2005 and 2014 .
