from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Davis Cup in 1988 was the 77th edition of the competition for men's national tennis teams organized by the ITF . The Federal Republic of Germany won the final in Gothenburg between December 16 and 18 against Sweden 4-1. This was the first time that Germany secured the Davis Cup. During the entire tournament, the German team lost only one individual match: Stefan Edberg won his second individual, which was already meaningless at the time, against Carl-Uwe Steeb .
