Kent Carlsson (born January 3, 1968 in Eskilstuna ) is a former Swedish tennis player .

Career

Carlsson won the junior tournament of the French Open in 1984 when he defeated, among others, Cyril Suk , Robbie Weiss and Luke Jensen as well as Mark Kratzmann in the final. He won nine individual titles in his career, all on clay. His greatest success was winning the title in 1988 at the International German Tennis Championships at Hamburg's Rothenbaum . He achieved his best placement in the ATP world rankings in the same year with 6th place.

His best result in a Grand Slam tournament was also at the French Open, where he reached the second round twice. In 1986, he was in the second round of the US Open in doubles .

Carlsson played four individual games between 1986 and 1988 for the Swedish Davis Cup team , all of which he won. He celebrated victories over Miloslav Mečíř , Henri Leconte and Thierry Tulasne , against whom he was twice successful. In the final of the world group in 1988 he should be used in the last individual; since Germany had already won the Davis Cup at this point, his game against Patrik Kühnen was no longer played.
