Champion reached the quarter-finals at the junior tournament of the French Open 1983, defeating Andrei Olchowski and Aaron Krickstein , among others . The following year he was in the quarterfinals of the junior competition of the Australian Open , where he was defeated by Mark Kratzmann . He could not win a tournament on the ATP World Tour , his best result was the individual final in Saint-Vincent in 1988 , which he clearly lost to Kent Carlsson .
