Luna competed in tennis tournaments from 1977. He won his first game in Barcelona in October 1977 , but was initially unable to achieve any successes worth mentioning. In June 1979 he was in the semifinals of the Grand Prix tournament in Berlin . The following year he defeated in Nice , among others, Yannick Noah and was in the semifinals Bjorn Borg defeated. In 1981 he was in the semi-finals of the tournaments in Båstad and Bordeaux , in 1982 in the semi-finals of Nice and Boston . Also in the following year his best results were semi-finals, this time in Nice and Bordeaux. In 1984 he was in Aix-en-Provence for the first time in a final, in which he lost to Juan Aguilera . The next few years passed without any notable results, only in 1988 he reached his second final in Madrid . In the game against Kent Carlsson , however, he only won three games. After participating in the semi-finals in Prague , where he was able to force Horst Skoff and Miloslav Mečíř, among others , Luna played increasingly on the ATP Challenger Tour from 1989 onwards . There he achieved his first and only tournament victory at the age of almost 32, when he remained victorious in the 1990 Parioli final against Magnus Larsson . In the same year he was in the final of Tampere , where he was defeated by Renzo Furlan . In 1991 he ended his career. He reached the highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1984 with position 33 in singles and in 1988 with position 407 in doubles.
His best individual result in a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the round of 16 of the French Open 1983. There he was defeated by the French Christophe Roger-Vasselin . In the doubles competition, he could never qualify for a Grand Slam tournament.
Luna played 13 individual games for the Spanish Davis Cup team between 1979 and 1986 and won nine of them. Between 1980 and 1984 he competed in the World Team Cup for Spain.
