Hans Olsson (born August 27, 1984 in Mora ) is a former Swedish ski racer . He started mainly in the downhill , super-G and super-combined disciplines . His brother Jon Olsson is also a ski racer.

biography

Olsson's first participation in an FIS race was in January 2000. He initially focused on slalom and giant slalom , but then gradually switched to the faster disciplines from 2002 onwards. At the 2004 Junior World Championships in Maribor , he won the gold medal in Super-G, ahead of Canadians Manuel Osborne-Paradis and François Bourque . On March 6, 2004 he made his debut in the World Cup in Kvitfjell .

Olsson won his first World Cup points on December 11, 2005 when he was 13th in the Super Combined in Val-d'Isère . On November 29, 2008 he reached his first podium with third place in the downhill in Lake Louise ; it was also the first ever podium for a Swede in this discipline. At the 2009 World Cup final in Åre he was third again. In the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons he reached 12th and 13th place in the Downhill World Cup.

At the 2007 World Championships in Åre Olsson won the silver medal in the team competition and achieved 21st place in the Super-G and 23rd place in the downhill. At the 2009 World Cup in Val-d'Isère, his best result was 17th in the super combined. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he achieved twelfth place in the downhill at the same time as the Italian Werner Heel , but failed in the Super-G and the Super Combined. At the Alpine World Ski Championships 2011 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he achieved bronze with the Swedish team in the team competition.

On March 15, 2012, Olsson suffered a broken tibia and fibula in his right leg in the descent of the European Cup final in La Thuile . After the 2014/15 season , Olsson ended his career.
