Davis Cup 1953

The Davis Cup in 1953 was the 42nd edition of the competition organized by the ITF for men's national teams in tennis . The competition was held in three continental zones, the Europe , America and the Eastern Zone . The winners of the zones played a qualifying tournament for the finals.

In the playoff tournament, the USA prevailed against Belgium and India , but failed in the final from December 28th to 31st to defending champions Australia with 2: 3. It was Australia's eleventh title so far.

Attendees

Including the defending champion, 30 countries took part in the competition. The following teams played for a final ticket against the defending champion.

European zone

Ceylon (now Sri Lanka ) took part in the Davis Cup for the first time.

The Caribbean Association of British West Indies nominated a team for the competition for the first time.

In the final between defending champions Australia and the USA, Australia prevailed 3-2. It was the US's tenth game against Australia in a row. Australia won the eleventh title so far.
