Lamyropsis Cynaroides is a plant from the genus Lamyropsis in the family of Compositae (Asteraceae).

features

Lamyropsis cynaroides is a perennial stem hemicryptophyte that reaches heights of 20 to 60 centimeters. The stem is white and covered with a cobweb. The leaves are pinnate to pinnate. The upper side of the leaf is shaggy at the nerves, the underside is white felt. The leaves are divided into 3 to 5 sections with thorns 1.5 to 4 millimeters long. The cups are stalked and arranged individually. The tips of the bracts are long, protruding to ejected and subpulate. The fruits are 5 to 6 millimeters in size, the pappus 17 to 21 millimeters.

The flowering period extends from April to June.

Occurrence

Lamyropsis cynaroides occurs in the northeastern Mediterranean region: in Greece, Crete and Turkey. The species grows in open pine forests, on fallow land , ruderal sites and overgrazed Phrygana . In Crete it can be found at altitudes from 0 to 1450 meters.
