Tony Trabert

Marion Anthony Trabert , known as Tony Trabert , (born August 16, 1930 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is a retired American tennis player .

In his career he reached a total of ten finals in a Grand Slam tournament, five times each in singles and five times, and won all the finals.

Until Michael Chang's victory in 1989, Trabert was the last American tennis player to win the French Open at the Roland Garros Stadium .

His best year in tennis was in 1955, when he won doubles at the Australian Open , won both singles and doubles at the French Open and was able to make the men's singles victorious at Wimbledon and Forest Hills . A year later he switched to professional tennis players.

He also played in the Davis Cup and was captain of the US team in 1953 and from 1976 to 1980 .

In 1970 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Tennis.
