Davis Cup 1949

The Davis Cup in 1949 was the 38th edition of the competition for men's national tennis teams organized by the ITF . The competition was held in two continental zones, the European and American zones . The winners of the two zones played a playoff for the finals.

In the continental playoff, Australia clearly beat Italy 5-0, but lost 4-1 to defending champions USA in the final from August 26th to 28th . It was the US's 17th title so far, and the fourth in a row.

In the playoff between the two winners of the continental zones, Australia triumphed over Italy.

In the final between the defending champions USA and Australia, the USA could clearly prevail with 4: 1. It was the seventh US finals in a row, and the sixth final against Australia in a row. The USA won the USA's 17th title so far.
