Ted Schroeder
Fredrick Rudolph "Ted" Schroeder junior (born July 21, 1921 in Newark , New Jersey , † May 26, 2006 in La Jolla , San Diego , California ) was an American tennis player .
Career
Schroeder won the men's singles at Wimbledon in 1949 and also reached the doubles final in the same year . At the US Open he won singles in 1942 and doubles in 1940, 1941 and 1947. In addition, Schroeder was active for the USA in the Davis Cup from 1946 to 1951 . In 1966 he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame .
