In 1974 the Davis Cup was held for the 63rd time. The team from South Africa secured the title. The final opponent India did not take part in protest against the policy of the final opponent ( apartheid ). South Africa ended a winning streak of teams from the United States and Australia that had lasted since 1937. It was also the first and to date the only final in which no team from Europe, America or Oceania took part.
