International Lawn Tennis Challenge 1933

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Lawn Tennis Challenge 1933 was the 28th edition of the competition for men's national tennis teams organized by the ITF . The competition was in two continental zones of Europe - and the America Zone discharged, the Americas zone to North and Central America Group and South America group were divided. The winners of the two zones played a playoff for the finals. For the first time, due to the high number of participants, a qualification system was introduced in the European zone: all teams that were eliminated before the zone semi-finals had to compete in a qualifying round by four starting positions for next year's main field.

In the continental playoff, Great Britain beat the USA 4-1, and then defeated defending champions France in the final from July 28th to 30th . It was Britain's sixth title to date.
