Henry Ellsworth "Elly" Vines junior (born September 28, 1911 in Los Angeles , California , † March 17, 1994 in La Quinta , California) was an American tennis player .

Career

In 1933 he became a professional tennis player, having previously won the American championships, now the US Open (1931, 1932), and Wimbledon (1932). He is counted among the best tennis players of all time. With the American team, he also won the Davis Cup in 1933 . After his career as a tennis player, he became a professional golf player and was able to win a tournament on the US professional series.

In 1962 he was inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame .
