Ilja Georgijewitsch Beljajew ( Russian Илья Беляев , English spelling Ilya Belyaev ; born August 9, 1990 in Moscow ) is a former Russian tennis player .

Career

Beljajew played his first professional match in 2007 on the third-class ITF Future Tour . A year later he competed regularly in tournaments and won four futures in doubles as well as one future in singles. In Penza and Saransk , he was able to record his first victories at Challenger level. At the end of 2008 he was in the top 500 of the tennis world rankings in singles and doubles . In 2009 Belyayev managed to move into his first Challenger semi-finals in Almaty, Kazakhstan . In addition, he was twice close to jumping into his first main field on the ATP Tour in Moscow and St. Petersburg , but lost both times in the final qualifying round. In doubles, he got his only ATP double match thanks to a wildcard . In this he lost at the side of Filipp Dawydenko at the beginning.

2010 was the best year of his career. With place 272 in singles and place 221 in doubles he reached his career high. In addition to two futures, he was also able to achieve his first ATP main field in singles. In Moscow he fought his way through the qualification, but had no chance against Oleksandr Dolhopolow . In doubles, the Russian won three futures in Saransk and his only Challenger title. In 2011 he quickly fell out of the top 300 and was only able to win one more future title in the individual.
