The FVA-2 Blue Mouse was a German glider and the second construction of the Aviation Science Association at the Technical University in Aachen .

The FVA-2 was designed by Wolfgang Klemperer for participation in the II. Rhön Competition in 1921 and was based closely on its predecessor, the 1920 "Schwatzen Düvel" . The low wing configuration was retained and wood and bamboo were again used as building material for the fuselage and wing frame; fabric and cardboard served as cladding. Emphasis was placed on reducing the weight, so that the blue mouse was around nine kilograms lighter. What was new was the seat position of the pilot, which was integrated deeper into the fuselage and sat with his entire upper body in the air flow while chatting Düvel . Another innovation was the first use of two flight instruments, a speedometer and a "stress diameter" of a vertical acceleration upon exposure to up or downdrafts indicated.

The competition began on the Wasserkuppe on August 10, 1921 and by August 20, Klemperer, who was also the aircraft designer and pilot, made five flights with the FVA-2, in which he achieved canting of up to ten meters. At the end of the competition on August 25th, he reached a flight distance of 2580 m and landed at Poppenhausen after a flight time of 5:30 minutes . Compared to the distance of 1830 m he had achieved with Chatting Düvel in the previous year, that was a considerable improvement, but two days earlier the Vampyr, piloted by Arthur Martens, had flown 3580 m to Obernhausen in 5:33 min and thus set a world record. With these results, the II. Rhön was officially over, but many of the participants continued their flights, including Klemperer, who took off on August 30 at around 1:50 p.m. and was able to climb to around 100 m in the updraft. He then managed to stay in the air for 13:03 minutes and land at Gersfeld after 5000 m . This time the flight was recognized as a duration and distance record, but on September 5th Martens stopped it again with the Vampyr , which now dictated the direction of the glider construction, with 7500 m.
